Eden Isle is one of Slidell’s waterfront communities, with canal lots opening onto Lake Pontchartrain. That access to the water is the appeal, and it is also the exposure: when storm surge pushes the lake up, Eden Isle and other lakefront neighborhoods in south Slidell are among the first places it reaches. The area flooded heavily in Hurricane Katrina.
Raising waterfront homes
Waterfront lots usually come with high Base Flood Elevations and soft soils near the water, which often means a substantial lift and an engineered foundation such as driven pilings. Both slab and raised homes can be elevated:
Protect the investment
A raised waterfront home is easier to insure, easier to sell, and far less likely to need another gut-and-rebuild after the next storm. See our house raising cost guide and FEMA elevation grants page, then request a free estimate.
