Temporary shoring under a raised house during foundation repair

Not every foundation problem requires lifting the whole house. Shoring and targeted repairs can fix failing piers, damaged beams and settled sections, and they are often part of a larger elevation project.

Common foundation repairs in St. Tammany

  • Pier replacement. Cracked, leaning or sinking piers are replaced with new piers on proper footings.
  • Beam and sill replacement. Rot and termite damage under older homes is cut out and replaced.
  • Settlement correction. Low sections are lifted and supported so they stop moving.
  • Storm damage repair. Homes shifted by high water or wind are shored, re-set and secured.

Shoring during other projects

Shoring is used whenever part of a house needs temporary support: during pier replacement, when removing a load-bearing section, or while a raised home’s new foundation is being completed. Done right, it keeps the structure stable and the crew safe.

If your home floods or sits low on its lot, ask whether it makes sense to combine foundation work with raising the house, since the cost of mobilizing a crew and lifting equipment can be shared.

Common questions

What is shoring?

Shoring is temporary support put in place to hold a structure safely while permanent repairs are made, such as replacing piers, beams or a section of foundation.

Do I need an engineer for foundation repair?

For major repairs and anything tied to a raise, yes. An engineer's report documents the problem and the fix, and it is often required for permits and useful for insurance or resale.
